Abstract

Harnessing the energy potential of the renewable sources in thermal systems for producing heat and domestic hot water represents an object of great interest in the field of energy. Storing thermal energy thus obtained compensates the discontinuous feature of the renewable sources potential and takes over the energy demand peaks, obviating the occurance of unfavorable situations characterized by energy excess, in periods with low thermal energy demand. The presence of the thermal storage increases the operational flexibility of the heating system resulting in attenuation of the capacitive and temporal imbalances of the associated thermal flows. From a technical point of view, the feasibility of the thermal storage systems is reflected by the energy efficiency level achieved, expressed through performance indicators. In this work, the influence of the thermal storage system's characteristics on the energy profile of the hybrid system was analysed, within a proposed study-case
