Energy use is a vital force for the economic well being. It drives many aspects of the economic activity and is essential to a high quality life. However, the unwanted side-effects of energy use, including local pollution and the global warming due mainly to releases of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), are detrimental to life quality and may threaten climate changes at a large-scale.
