Abstract

JET machine's operation lead to continuously generation of tritiated water and therefore, it is necessary to consider the development of a Water Detritiation System (WDS) for JET and also for ITER. The key point of WDS is the efficiency and stability of liquid phase catalytic exchange (LPCE) column that has to achieve a high decontamination of tritiated streams.
Before a full-scale water detritianon system can be designed, laboratory experiments led to select two catalytic mixed packing based on hydrophobic Pt-catalyst, for LPCE column. The both packing has good and almost similar performances. A complete data base concerning the influence β-radiation of tritium and the influence of impurities from feed streams on the catalytic mixed packing's performances and parameters is absolutely necessary.
The results of 3 months endurance test for SCK-CEN packing exposed at tritiated water in dynamic and static regime) are presented in this paper. No significant modifications in physico-structural parameters of Pt-catalyst and packing's performances have been observed.
